Drugstore Back To School Makeup #MOTD

School is right around the corner! Today I'm sharing with you the drugstore products I would wear to class on a daily basis. I am using all drugstore products, because more students are on a tight budget, than not. Also, these products are all low maintenance throughout the day, and provide easy application and blending as well.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in 103 Natural Buff - This demi-matte foundation is my favourite foundation in the drugstore. It is long lasting and provides medium coverage, perfect for school days.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in 60 Brightener - Up late studying? The peachy tint of this concealer covers your dark circles beautifully. And the sponge applicator makes blending easy.

e.l.f. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder - The shimmer in this product also contributes to brightening under the eye. Don't forget to set your concealer so it doesn't end up creasing throughout the day.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 001 Transparent - Setting your face with a translucent powder with help keep your natural oils at bay so you don't look like a hot mess come 3pm.

Physicians Formula Bronze Booster in Medium-Dark - Enhance the tan you got during the summer with this beautifully glow-y bronzer.

Milani Baked Blush in 05 Luminoso - Using a glow-y blush means you can skip highlight in the rushed mornings. The light peach shade also keeps it looking semi-natural.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in 80 Creamy Beige - Provides a light wash of colour and is easily applied with your finger. Just blend out the crease so there are no harsh lines.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara - The mascara gives volume and length. With just one coat you are good to go, use two coats for a bit more drama and definition. Curl your eyelashes before mascara to look more awake.

Maybelline Brow Drama in Soft Brown - I don't always want to spend the time pencilling in my brows for school. Using a tinted brow mascara is the perfect middle ground for me. It lightly fills in the sparse areas, and keeps the hairs in place all day.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 14 - A brown-y nude is definitely my go-to right now. It is also an easy shade to re-apply throughout the day.
What are your go-to products to wear to school?

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Starter Kit | First Impression and Swatches

I've been hearing about Makeup Geek for awhile now and never had the chance to try it. When I saw on Twitter that they were having a sale on the Starter Kit, I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity.

Top L-R: Mocha, Cocoa Bear, Crème Brullée
Middle: Glamorous, Shimma Shimma, Prom Night
Bottom: Unexpected, Drama Queen, Corrupt

The colour selection is spot-on for a neutral lover like me. I will get use out of every single shade.

L-R: Mocha, Cocoa Bear, Crème Brullée, Glamorous, Shimma Shimma, Prom Night, Unexpected, Drama Queen, Corrupt

Mocha: Matte warm medium brown
Cocoa Bear: Matte golden brown
Crème Brullée: Soft matte medium sand
Glamorous: Bronze-y shimmer-y gold
Shimma Shimma: Champagne
Prom Night: Silver-y pale purple
Unexpected: Matte pink-purple
Drama Queen: Shimmer-y dark purple
Corrupt:  Intense black with a hint of shimmer

First Impression:
These shadows are highly pigmented, and buttery in texture.
The price is incredible for the quality - just $6 each (The 9 pan starter kit with Z-palette is just $62).
They are cruelty, talc and paraben free.

So far, I am super impressed with these shadows. Jaclyn Hill and KathleenLights rave about them all the time, as do so many others. If they're good enough for them - they're good enough for me! *wink*

Have you tried that Makeup Geek eyeshadows?

Essie Tart Deco

As my final tribute to summer, I have brought out Essie Tart Deco. I wore this non stop last summer, but this is the first time I've worn it this year for some reason. I suppose it is because I've been more into the purples, mint, and light blue polishes.

This coral-y peach shade screams summer to me. It is also one of those colours that make you appear more tan than you really are, which I always appreciate.

My apologies that the picture doesn't do it justice, it looks more orange above than it actually is.

What is your favourite nail polish in the summer?

Ipsy August 2015 Unboxing

Hey Guys!

Is it just me, or did Ipsy show up a bit earlier this month?

This months theme is Prep School. I cannot believe back to school is right around the corner!

As always, let's start with the bag. I'm not a fan. I don't like the houndstooth and hot pink combination, and the geometric texture is strange. Also, I cannot even identify the material this is made from, something plastic-y.

But it's what's inside that counts so, moving on from the negative:

Albertini International Divine Skin Hydrator - This in shower body moisturizer is unscented, and I feel it will be perfect in the winter when my skin is more dry.

Eco-Beauty Good Night. Night Cream - Super hydration for smoother and plumper looking skin. If you read my skincare overhaul post, you'd know I've been battling with dehydrated, yet super oily skin. I will definitely be giving this product a good try.

Noyah All-Natural Lipstick in Desert Rose - This lipstick is a beautiful pink shade. I also like that it's all-natural, it's not something I actively seek out in my products but I appreciate it when I get them. You can also get 15% off and a free lip balm at using the code noyahROSES. Valid until Sept 30, 2015.

Lord & Berry Nude Lipliner - This is a great brown nude shade, which I've been loving recently.

I feel that both of these lip products will be long lasting because I can still see the swatches on my arm a few hours, and a makeup wipe later.

Doll 10 HydraGel Cream Blush in Flirt - The packaging on this is cute! But I feel the blush may be a bit too dark for me. I will be giving this a chance, but I'm worried. This is peachy, rosy colour, which might look nice when I have a bit more of a tan.

Overall, I'm pleased with the selection of products I received this month, but not the bag.

What did you get in your Ipsy this month?

New Goodies | Drugstore and Sephora Haul

Happy Saturday!

This month has been a spendy one! I have a few packages en route still, so expect another haul post soon. If hauls aren't your thing - don't worry I also have a few reviews in the works.

Batiste Dry Shampoo - This time I purchased my favourite dry shampoo in the Original scent. The Wild scent is still my favourite, but this one is probably runner up. I usually buy Batiste at Marshalls to get it a bit cheaper.

Formula X Base Coat - I had run out of my previous base coat, which is shown in my latest empties post. I've heard good things about this Formula X one and can let you know how I get on with it after I've used it a few times if you'd like.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water - It seems that all my favourite YouTubers, not matter their skin type, have been raving about this primer over the past few months. Another product I have yet to use, but I have high hopes.

Look at those beauties! I've definitely jumped on the highlighter obsessed train this summer.

Milani Tantastic Face & Body Baked Bronzer in 01 Fantastic in Gold - I'm not sure why they call this a bronzer, as not even the fairest of skins would bronze with a super shimmery gold shade. However, as a gold highlighter - they is beautiful. This only works on the top of my cheekbones now that I have a tan, but this would also look great on the eyes so I will continue to get use out of this product.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop - If you haven't at least given this bad boy a swatch in Sephora, you need to! It is currently out of stock on the Sephora Canada website, but grab it as soon as it comes back because it's limited edition. This is a beautiful white gold highlight with peach/pink undertones. I was concerned it would look strange with my yellow undertone skin, but it's stunning! Would you expect anything less from Jaclyn Hill?

As always, please let me know if you'd like a review on anything I've mentioned today.

What have you bought recently?

Empties | Products I've Used Up | 2

Remember in my first empties post when I said it would be too daunting to do a huge post? He he whoops! Here we go!

Aveeno Fresh Essentials Anti-Fatigue Eye Roller - Reduces the look of puffiness and dark circles. The metal roller felt amazing under the eyes in the mornings. Though this was only a sample, it lasted for ages. I'd recommend this if you're looking for something cooling and depuffing in the morning.

Clearasil Daily Clear Daily Pore Cleansing Pads - I used these as my acid tone step in my skin care. It was too strong (2% salicylic acid) for everyday on my sensitive skin. It did a good job at exfoliating the dead skin off my face. I will be repurchasing.

Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel -  This is a great, gentle cleanser. I enjoyed using this in the mornings.

Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover - I did not like this. In my opinion, it is not worth the money ($36). Sure it worked, but it worked just as well as the cheaper alternatives. For the price I expect miracles people!

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer - This oil-free moisturizer worked really well with my oily skin. It smells of cucumber, which was great in the mornings! I will be repurchasing.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist - This product is super luxurious. I got a sample and even it has amazing, sturdy packaging. It smells great, was hydrating and refreshing. I probably won't buy the full size for myself, just because of the price. But this would be a great gift for a loved one.

Bliss Firm, Baby, Firm - This serum claimed to be lifting and volumizing. I didn't notice anything fantastic while using this, but my skin did look a but plumper and more hydrated. Nothing amazing.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser - Yes this was gentle, but a bit too gentle. I didn't feel it was doing a good job cleansing my skin.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes - These are my favourite cleansing wipes. I use them for removing heavy makeup, swatches, wipes off brushes, etc. I'd recommend these!

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk - This was good, but not as good as Batiste in my opinion.

Batiste Dry Shampoo - I wasn't a huge fan of this tropical scent, but Batiste is my favourite dry shampoo.

Nivea Happy Time Body Lotion - I love this scent! It was hydrating, and has a pump which is always a bonus.

Little Luxuries Soapworks Whipped Sugar Scrub - I got mine in the Sex on the Beach scent which was lovely. It was good and provided a gentle exfoliation, nothing special though I'm never blown away by a sugar scrub.

Avon Naturals Refreshing Pomegranate & Mango Shower Gel - Smells good, got my body clean, not much more I can say.

Bodycology Brown Sugar Vanilla Shower Gel - This scent was a bit too sweet for me and made my feel a bit greasy, not a fan.

CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara - This is a great 'natural' mascara. The wand evenly distributed product, and it does what it claims. I'd repurchase.

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Mascara - A great lengthening mascara, didn't blow my mind, but it was good!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - Now this is a fabulous mascara, probably my favourite that I've tried! I will be purchasing the full size.

Sei Bella Flawless Age-Defying Concealer - The slight salmon colour helped with under eye circles, the brush applicator made application and a bit of blending easy though I'd go in with a concealer brush to blend further.

Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and Top Coat - I never found that my polish stayed on very well using this compared to other products.

Little Luxuries Soapworks Lip Balm - This smelled like orange creamsicle, which is great. But it didn't feel hydrating, just greasy.

Phew, that was a long one! Next time, I will try not to wait three months between these posts.

What products have you recently used up?

July Favourites

I've decided to try and do monthly favourites instead of seasonal favourites as I've done in the past. Let me know what you think!

Boscia Balancing Facial Tonic - I have done a full reviewed this product here earlier this month. This is a lovely, hydrating toner. It has calmed my redness, and is refreshing to spritz on hot summer days!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara - I still prefer bristle wands over plastic ones, but this is a fabulous mascara. I find it to be volumizing and lengthening. Some times it is a bit hard to work with because the formula is so wet, but the end result is worth it.

Maybelline Brow Drama - This is great for light - no makeup days, for a 'I woke up like this' brow look, but we both know you didn't ;) . It's essentially just a tinted brow gel, holds the hairs in place all day, but it is not crunchy and tints some of the sparse areas without you taking the time to pencil them in.

Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette - This product was also reviewed here on the blog, which you can check out for more details. I've been loving the Light and Medium Cocoa shades in particular, light for setting my undereye concealer, and medium for contour. The formula is very blendable and never seems to look cakey no matter how much I pile on.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation - I can honestly say, this is the best foundation I've tried so far. I have super oily skin, and this holds on for the whole day without breaking up. Everyone has been raving about this foundation so I'll stop here. It's good - you should try it.

What have you been loving this past month?
