Essie Bikini So Teeny

This is a bit of a rediscovery of an old friend.

Essie's Bikini So Teeny is a light blue polish with a hint of shimmer. This colour reminds me a lot of the packaging for the Mac Cinderella collection, which I missed out on much to my dismay.

It takes a good two coats to build up the colour to my desired opaqueness, and for it not to appear streaky.

Though Essie polishes are not my favourite formula, they chip quite easily on my nails, I do love this colour and will probably be wearing it quite a lot this season.

What nail polish have you been loving recently?

Hello Spring, are you there?

Yesterday the weather started to take a warmer turn. The sun was shining, the snow was melting.

I felt this outfit would be a good transition into spring, though perhaps with an added cardigan and my Hunter boots.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, not only is it a rainy day today, but I used my phone.

I love the mesh detailing at the neckline and hem of this crop top, and the grey really suits my skintone.
Top - xhilaration (bought at Target)

These jeans are an all time favourite, I also have them in a darker wash. They fit me really nicely, and are short enough that they don't bunch at the ankle.
Jeans - American Eagle Jegging Super Stretch

The shoes are just a classic nude platform pump that goes with everything.
Heels - Brash

L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints

Today I thought I'd do a review on the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints.

The packaging claims these have 'super intense color' and an 'extra glossy finish', which is correct, though they do dry into what I'd describe as a semi-matte finish after an hour or so.

Great colour selection, I bought three that I thought would be great for spring/summer
The finish is fantastic
Lasts a good amount of time, about 5 hours on me
Pigmentation is great

Smell like paint to me
A tad drying
Settles into my fine lines on my lips (except the colour daring)
Bleeds, I'd recommend using a lip liner
I'm not a fan of the application, it makes it hard to get a precise line, easily solved with a lip brush

My favourite of the three I bought is Daring, which I was quite surprised about as it is outside of my comfort zone. It looks darker in the swatch above than on the lips, it is quite a bright purple colour.

Overall, these are a good product considering the price. I will continue to wear the ones I bought, but will not be going back to buy more.

I purchased mine at Lawtons for $4.39

What are your thoughts on these?

Winter Favourites

I could not be more excited to be moving into spring!

Today I'd like to share with you the 10 products I've been loving the most during these long winter months.

Let's start with skincare.

First up is the Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel. This is a great cleanser for me in the winter, I didn't want anything to harsh and drying on my skin. It's super gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean.

The other skincare item I've been loving all winter is The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. I've been suffering from dry spots this winter, which has never happened to me before. I was looking for a heavier moisturizer to solve that problem, but wouldn't make my usually oily skin break out. Though this did make me a tad oily during the day, I loved using this as a night cream. It made my dry spots so much better, and I'll probably continue to use this until it gets too hot. Bonus, the Vitamin E range from The Body Shop smells amazing!

Moving on to the fun stuff - beauty products.

Everyone loves a dark red nail polish in the winter. The one I used the most was Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in 340 Cinna-snap and I think it was because it was the easiest, and fast one to apply. I also have a few other dark colours from this range of Sally Hansen products, and I love them all, the thick brush makes it so easy.

Because of the dry patches this winter, I didn't like to wear a heavy foundation. I used the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35 in the shade Light. This product provides a decent amount of coverage, so that I didn't feel completely bare faced but didn't cling to my dry patches as bad. I also like that is contains SPF, even in winter you should always be protecting your skin from the sun.

To add a bit of colour back to my pale skin, The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 02 Fair Matte, did the trick. This bronzer is quite light, but works great for the winter months, or if you usually have quite fair skin like I do. I also think the honeycomb print is cute, but mine is starting to fade.

Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in 005 Parisian Passion. This is an amazing dark berry shade! It lasts a long time as well because it is a stain. I do find the applicator a bit weird, but I'll just blend the product out with my finger or lip brush.

Maybelline EyeStudio Gel Liner in Blackest Black. I prefer gel eyeliners over liquid ones because I find it easier to use, and this is the only one I've been using all winter, whenever I went out with friends. It's long lasting, and opaque with only a tiny amount of product. Mine has started to dry out unfortunately, but I'll definitely be repurchasing soon.

The mascara I wear almost everyday is the CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom. It does what it claims, which seems to be a rarity these days. It provides volume and stays touchably soft.

Something everyone and their dog raves about; the Maybelline Color Tattoo in 25 Bad to the Bronze (or On and On Bronze depending on where you're from). This is the perfect bronze shade, it reflects the light beautifully. It is super easy to apply, I just use my finger, and it doesn't crease. This can be worn as a base, or by itself. I usually wear mine all over the lid with a soft brown blended through the crease. I have never gotten so many compliments on my makeup before, as I have while wearing this.

Last but not least, Maybelline Matte lipstick in 660 Touch of Spice. It is a dark mauve-y nude shade. It goes with pretty much any makeup look. The formula isn't too drying either, which is rare for matte lipsticks.

What was your favourite product this winter?

Spring Wardrobe Wishlist

Spring is right around the corner, or so I've been told. Here in Halifax we just got another 10+ cm of snow. However, when spring finally decides to show up, I want to be ready.

Here are the five items I'd like to add to my wardrobe to transition into the warmer months to come.

1. Ripped Jeans

I have been seeing these everywhere, so glad this trend is back. I love the light wash of this pair from American Eagle. They will easily take me into spring and summer.

2. Light-Weight Jacket

Living in Halifax, you need a good rain coat in the spring. I love the bright yellow colour of this Rains one. It's light-weight, cute and functional!

3. Black Booties

I've been keeping my eye out for a classic, versatile black booties with a short heel for awhile now. This pair from Aldo caught my eye. I think these will go with almost anything; jeans, dresses, shorts.

4. Jumpsuit

I've dreamed of the day I'd be able to pull off a jumpsuit. I've decided that this spring I'm going to make it happen. I saw this one in the window of Le Chateau and have been wanting to go back to pick it up every since. This would be ideal with a blazer for a killer office outfit.

5. Kimono

I didn't really get into the kimono trend last year, but since it is back again I thought I'd give it a go. There's just something about a kimono that gives a look a casual, relaxed feel. I think it will look nice with a basic white or black tee and some denim shorts and maybe the booties above.

What is on your spring wardrobe wishlist?

Feeling Bendy

I've been really enjoying doing 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene! The series is made with the intent of you doing it everyday for 30 days. However, if you can't commit to that - that's okay too! The videos vary in length some are as short at 10 minutes, others are 40 minutes.

I've been doing the yoga whenever I can fit it in, this is not everyday for me. It can be three times a week, or even once a week depending on how busy I am at the time. I am doing the videos in order though and am currently on Day 17.

Adriene teaches yoga in a way that it doesn't matter what level you are at. She is always says 'find what feels good', and I really like that. She's also funny which makes listening to her even more enjoyable.

The sequences she goes through in these videos allows even the most inexperienced yogi to get into the positions, and gives many variations depending on the individuals ability. Early on I was able to do the Crow Pose, just for a few seconds, but it made me feel so accomplished.

Doing yoga with Adriene has allowed me to spend sometime on myself in a more productive way rather than just watching Netflix. Though both are relaxing, I feel that yoga is doing incredible things for my body and mind. I don't have all the tension in my back and shoulders, and my hamstrings are really starting to loosen up.
I recommend giving this series a go and let me know how you found it. I'd love to hear your opinions.

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy

I've been looking for a replacement to my beloved The Body Shop Love Etc. perfume for awhile. That perfume holds a lot of memories for me and Jeremy. I wore it all the time when me and Jeremy first started dating (I was 17), and have worn it most date nights since, it reminds us of 'old times', being carefree and spontaneous.

Not only was I about to use the last of it, but I think it went bad. It now has a strong alcohol smell. It had lasted quite a long time though, approximately six years I'd say.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Love Etc. has been discontinued.

I started the hunt for a similar perfume. I found Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy. The notes are very similar, but Viva La Juicy smells more fresh, yet still sexy, more grown up, slightly fruity. One thing I could do without is the gaudy packaging. I prefer more classic, timeless bottles to display on my shelf.

The Juicy Couture website describes the perfume as a 'combination of delicious wild berries, creamy vanilla and jasmine'.

Love Etc.'s notes were sandalwood, vanilla and jasmine.

I am excited to wear this on our next date and make some new memories.

Do you have a special perfume that brings back memories for you?

Naturebox Unboxing

Yesterday I received my first real Naturebox. I have recieved the trial/sample bix before this one.

I'm always on the hunt for healthier snack options for both myself and Max.

This box is $20 plus $7 shipping to Canada plus tax. You get 5 bags of different snacks. You are able to choose which snacks you want to receive, or you can opt for a surprise box each month. I chose to have a surprise.

They offer over a 100 varieties so there is something for everyone.

This is what I received this month:

French Toast Granola - maple-flavored granola with pecans. I am usually not the biggest fan of pecans. I'm going to try this as a breakfast item, maybe with a bit of milk or on top of yogurt. Max and I both like granola in the mornings.

Whole Wheat Raspberry Figgy Bars. These bars are quite large, there are five of them in the package. I'm hoping these will be filling, so I don't feel the urge to snack all day.

Cashew Power Clusters - nut squares with cashews. Through the packages, these look very similar to rice crispy squares, though they feel quite hard.

Sticks 'n Stones - roasted nuts with sesame sticks. Looks like a basic trail mix type snack. Great for on the go.

Dark Cocoa Nom Noms - mini cocoa oat cookies. These look absolutely delightful! Max had one for dessert last night (it's the open package in the photo), and kept asking for more. I'm always craving something sweet, this will be a great healthier option.

Overall I am quite happy with my box. There are a lot of nutty options, which I'd prefer less of but what can I say, they're good for you!

If you're interested, you can order your own box at
